Black Wood Jazz the first

for the first Black Wood Jazz, we watched a snippet from the classic movie Dogma, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
We thought about what it means to be church, what we value about faith and church, and how jazz could enrich our discoveries of God.
Liz Chehade (now Tobias) brought some friends along, and we sang jazzed up favourites. We've since taken community singing out of the Black Wood Jazz spaces, leaving the music to the professionals and inviting participation in other ways. We want it to feel less like traditional church, and more like a cafe where the problems of the world are solved among friends!
